In 2009 BAE Systems approached USO-Metro to be a partner for this expression of appreciation for military and their families during the holidays. According to Military K-12 Partners, the average military family moves about every three years. Due to the high number of moves and limited space, many military families do not have the ability to keep an artificial tree and/or holiday decorations. With a tree and holiday decorations of their own, military families can celebrate the holidays with an added specialness, which we hope will boost their morale and strengthen their family relationship and resiliency.
