USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro), a 501c3 organization that provides support services and programs to one of the largest military populations in the world, is proud to announce the Honorable Maureen Cragin, Vice President, Communications, Boeing Defense, Space & Security, as its new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Cragin, a veteran and Navy retiree, was elected to the position on June 11, 2013 at the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. She has been a board member since 2005 and is the first woman to serve as the Chairman of the Board for USO-Metro. Before joining Boeing in 2002, Cragin was appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as assistant secretary for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
"We're incredibly honored and excited to have Maureen as our new Chairman," said Elaine Rogers, President and CEO of the USO-Metro. "Her commitment to our troops and her boundless enthusiasm makes her a natural, and we're looking forward to working with her to continue the USO's mission of lifting the spirits of our troops and their families."
Among Cragin's first official duties during USO-Metro September 10 board meeting included welcoming the following new board members:

EY's Principal, Federal Practice Leader, Rollie Quinn
Board members play a critical role in empowering USO-Metro to continue providing vital programs and services free of charge to the more than 300,000 military living in the Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. region and the 130,000 traveling through local airports each year.
"All of us at USO-Metro are extremely thrilled to welcome Giant's Steve Stoner and EY's Rollie Quinn to our board of directors," said Rogers. "Both of these men are military veterans who continue to serve our nation through their support of our troops and their families. We're honored to have them as a part of the USO-Metro family."
Throughout the year, USO-Metro plans and executes hundreds of programs and special events through its five USO centers, four airport lounges, and local military hospitals all with the goals of boosting morale, building a sense of community and helping to ease the burdens of a transient military lifestyle. In addition, USO-Metro provides programs aimed specifically at assisting military families in hardship situations by providing emergency housing and food assistance when needed. Signature programs include Turkeys for Troops, Community Connection, Operation Back to School and Project USO Elf.
